striking up at once. Warmed me from deep within to my outermost extremities.

MAKER'S MARK, 11-29-09
Color: Darkest amber, the richest shade of deepest autumn
Nose: Aromatic, spicy and woody, like a summertime afternoon
Body: Complex and rich, the old familiar friend, what bourbon is
Finish: Over a minute
WILD TURKEY RYE, 10-13-09
Color: Orange-ish amber
Nose: Bountiful, vanilla and caramel, lightly smokey
Body: Sharp and serene, soothing, like the first few notes of "In A Silent Way"
Finish: Long and gorgeous. Austin Nichols has done it again.
ELIJAH CRAIG 12-YEAR OLD, 10-7-09
Color: Yellowish-brown, lighter than usual
Nose: Simple, no surprises, "smells like bourbon"
Body: Similar to the nose, i.e. nothing too spectacular
Finish: Short and neat
BUFFALO TRACE, 9-8-09
Color: Lightly burnt orange
Nose: An aromatic explosion of honey, toffee, vanilla and spice
Body: Pleasant, simple, light
Finish: Short and crisp
EAGLE RARE, 8-15-09
Color: Dark, burnt orange, what I wish sunrise looked like, butterscotch
Nose: Aromatic and not too pungent, leaving me wondering what flavors await.
Fruity and forest-like
Body: Warm, pleasant, rich and tasty, like Peaceful Valley Scout Ranch
Finish: A creeper, holding until just enough time has passed. Wait for it...
KNOB CREEK, 7-9-09
Color: Dark amber, like Golden Griddle or tree sap
Nose: Rich, toffee & caramel, slightly spicy, strong and enticing
Body: About as rich and complex as any I've had in my short whiskey tasting life.
Numbs the tongue and cheeks.
Finish: Pleasant, like french-inhaling a menthol cigarette
REBEL RESERVE, 6-18-09
Color: Light, clear, pale, regretting my purchase
Nose: Pleasant, wheaty, buzzy, looking forward to it
Body: Wow. Very surprising. Smooth but complex, balanced, not very woody
which is a nice break
Finish: Long, like the sustain on a big, fat Les Paul
WILD TURKEY 101, 3-20-09
Color: Dark amber, like my the jewelery you see at an art festival
Nose: Smooth and sharp
Body: Surprisingly smooth and full, it belies its proof. Very pleasant, vanilla and
caramel
Finish: Loooooong and smooth
TULAMORE DEW IRISH WHISKEY, 2-20-09
Color: Medium dark amber, light honey or maple syrup from Canada
Nose: Sweet and complex, with hints of neutral spirits
Body: Deep and rich, complex, rubbing alcohol
Finish: Short and burning. This is delicious on the rocks but not so much neat.
YAMAZAKI 12 YEAR OLD SINGLE MALT WHISKEY, 1-2-09
Color: Honey, light brown
Nose: Sweet, pine, sharp
Body: Warm, crisp, light on the tongue
Finish: Long and lightly oakish
BULLEIT BOURBON, 10-01-2010
Color: Pale orange, like motor oil
Nose: Light and slightly spicy, pleasant but not too exciting
Body: Surprising. A crisp, autumnal punch in the face. Sharp with notes of vanilla,
white chocolate and maple sugar
Finish: Satisfying, like the first time you wear a scarf in the fall. Mellow.

Color: Bright orange, like the tannins in an apple juice tureen
Nose: Ghetto crisp, pungent
Body: Surprising given the above statement. Flavorful, rich, notes of charcoal,
toffee and honey
Finish: Long and heartburn inducing. For the budget-conscious only.
